Everyone says Hindus are majority in India. I never understood this. How are Hindus counted ? What is the definition of "Hindu"?
There is major flaw in our definition & our census. By default in India if we do not know someone's religion he is called as HINDU. i.e., unless contradicted by default everyone is a Hindu.
M.Karunanidhi is a known atheist. As per Census, what religion does he belong to? How can you count him as a Hindu?
Saibaba believes in all Gods. All his followers are not Hindus. They follow Saibaba's teachings which is not Hinduism. What religion do they all belong? Hindus !!!
Many tribals never know of any Gods or any religions. Some may be worshipping nature. They are also counted as Hindus !!!
How can a vegetarian Brahmin and a lamb sacrificing Dalit claim to be of the same religion?
The right method would be take a census of Indians based on "Shanmata" as Saivaites, Vaishnavites, Shaktism, Smartism, Skanda etc., Nature worshippers should be separated.
Madurai Veeran worshippers, Karuppasamy worshippers should be separated. Aryan Gods Ram and Krishna are unknown to many Dravidian Hindus.
If we do a census like this then we should see who is Majority & who is minority.
The basic fundamental definition of "Hindu" needs relook.
